Selected Among 11 Promising Start-Ups to Accelerate Growth and Development in the Prestigious Discovery Spark Programme
Discovery Park, Kent’s thriving life science and innovation community, proudly announces the selection of Cooden Cosmetics among the 11 promising start-ups for the 2024 Discovery Spark programme. This prestigious business support initiative is designed to foster growth and development in early-stage companies, and we are thrilled to be part of it.
Cooden Cosmetics, founded by James Millett and Conor Crooks, emerged from Imperial College with a mission to revolutionise skincare. Our innovative approach focuses on creating advanced therapeutic solutions to bring real relief and improvement to those who need it most. Being selected for Discovery Spark is a significant milestone for us, offering unparalleled opportunities for growth and collaboration.
The Discovery Spark programme is specially tailored to ignite the growth of businesses solving critical health challenges. Over the next seven weeks, we will receive tailored mentoring and support, preparing us for successful investment pitches. The programme includes immersive sessions on people, teams, brand, presentation, communication, business metrics, and markets. The journey will culminate on Pitch Day, 4th July, where we will compete for a prize package worth over £50K, including a year of lab or office space at Discovery Park and invaluable support from specialist partners.
Dr. Renos Savva, Head of Innovation at Discovery Park, commented: “Discovery Park is committed to championing the next generation of life science leaders, but even we were overwhelmed with the number of applications received for this edition of Discovery Spark. The 11 selected companies represent the best-of-the-best in new innovations for women’s health, helping to address the ‘missing 52%’ in health equity: Women make up the majority, yet continue to be overlooked in healthcare, with the UK having the largest female gender health gap in the G20.”
Cooden Cosmetics was born from the frustration of unmet needs in skincare and the inspiration of scientific breakthroughs. Our mission is simple: to create creams that address these critical gaps. Our inclusion in Discovery Spark is a testament to our potential to transform skincare and bring relief to millions.
